B. Organizational Management
Reflection: I was given several opportunities to observe PTO and leadership meetings, which showcased several domains within this competency. PTO discuss financial matters, such as budgeting and fundraising. The leadership meetings were made up of an individual from every system within our school. This gave them the opportunity to collaborate with one another and relay that information to their team.
I believe this competency, out of all of them, has the most variety regarding its domain. The educational structure is comprised of a multitude of systems and with that comes the necessity for the skills and organization to manage it all. When looked at in its entirety, the vast layout of a district or even school structure is overwhelming. I believe that one of the most powerful characteristics of a great leader is humility. The humility to set aside one’s pride and delegate task to not just individuals, but other leaders. One common thread I saw throughout the course in the educational leadership program was that leaders who truly make a positive impact are ones who surrounded themselves with other leaders. |
